The original large back yard was awkwardly split into two levels. A retaining wall dividing the yard in half was removed, and the space was graded to one level. This allowed for the garage to be converted into a pool house with an outdoor kitchen, bar, and arbor.

The original pool decking was broken up and reused as a stacked concrete wall to retain the original grade at the uphill side of the yard. The pool decking was divided into separate seating areas featuring a fire pit, dining area, and shade arbor.

In order to integrate the lawn and patio areas, grass joints were used to separate concrete slabs and pathways around the pool. Semi-tropical trees and shrubs, an expansive lawn, and rose and vegetable gardens complete the setting.
