About Us
The Great Outdoors Landscape Design provides a complete design service from concept to completed drawings. The needs and budget of the client are incorporated into innovative design solutions. We utilize the latest CAD programs to assist in creating easy to understand elevation and plan view drawings. We also provide engineered drawings and construction details for obtaining building permits for any construction project.
In addition to our design capabilities, The Great Outdoors is also a construction firm, which can handle all your installation needs, such as: arbors & gazebos, hillside decks, retaining walls, water features, irrigation, drainage systems, grading, 110 electrical & low voltage lighting, and landscaping. (Note: All projects on this web site were installed by The Great Outdoors.)
The Design Process
First, we meet with the client at the site to share ideas. The designer explores the wants and needs of the client and assists in the determination of the scope of the project.
Next, a conceptual plan is drawn. A color rendering is presented to the client along with a rough cost estimate to insure that the project falls within budget.
Upon approval of the concept plan, a final set of drawings is completed which includes: a hardscape plan with construction details, a tree and shrub plan, and a lighting plan.
Current Featured Projects
The Robinson Project, shown in this web site, was featured in the October '06 issue of Sunset Magazine. In addition, we are currently involved in a Living Homes Project, a company dedicated to building environmentally sensitive modular homes. We were awarded a $20,000 grant from the City of Santa Monica, the maximum amount given to any water conservation project.
